DURBAN CURRY. SO MUCH OF FLAVOUR.

Welcome to our latest South African creative collaboration. Venturing beyond the distinctive local dish which has become a national treasure - and international award-winner - to its wider impact on art and design. Sharing a small selection of the sort of local treasures which, like Durban curries themselves, make us proud.

A Durban Curry’s heat and fire; its spiciness; its trademark bright colours; its multiple cultural influences: all reflect the style of the city and citizens. Sub-tropical Durban, on the warm Indian Ocean coast of Africa, is not a grey or pastel place. It’s in your face. Loud. Gaudy. Unpretentious. And friendly.

Our first Durban Curry book was dreamed up by Erica Platter as a collaboration with the finest home cooks and pro chefs, who generously shared secret family recipes and their deep pride in a dish born in India, shaped in Africa, and which they, and we all, now convincingly own.

Durban Curry Co is our latest collaborative project. Between artists Clinton Friedman and Cameron Platter. On a range of limited-edition products influenced by the melting-pot of people, traditions, flavours, flora and fauna, landscapes and even language which characterise Durban, and the province and coastline of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
